Last Weekend in Denton and Lubbock

Man, we had some fun this last weekend up in North Texas. We made the haul up to Denton first. I believe it was our 3rd or 4th time playing at Texas Jive, and we really did have a good time. It was great once again to be playing with our pals in BAGG. We invited Gaahn up to play with us on Buddy Boo, which was really cool. Man, that was definitely the most people we have had the chance to play for up in Denton, so that was a real treat. We also got to meet thinking Plyers for the first time (from Nashville TN). They are a really good band, and extremely nice guys, so it was great fun to hang with them as well as BAGG. We have a new song we have been playing just about every show--Harry Carrey. It is actually an old PLUMP song that we wrote totally new parts for--there is only one section that survived the changes. Anyway, it is a toe-tapper, and we have been getting really good responses from the crowd with it, and we are pretty stoked. We played it in Denton and Lubbock.

As we are prone to do while at Texas Jive, Jason and I knocked back a couple of the 24 ounce beers, and I must have had 5 too many of those suckers or something because I woke up with a pretty bad hangover. Grady from BAGG and his lovely fiance Jesse had generously allowed PLUMP to stay over, so I felt kind of guilty feeling extremely listless and green all sprawled out on their couch. Luckily, I was prescribed a couple wheat grass drinks by Jesse, and eventually I came around. We had some good greasy diner food with Grady, Jesse, and Thinking Plyers, and then we headed up to Lubbock.

We played at Jake's. This was probably our 5th or 6th time in Lubbock, but our first time at Jake's (Klusoz closed down). They have a really big room to play in, and the stage is big, and the sound guy Andrew really knows what he is doing. We had our buddies in One Big Groove from Lubbock open for us, and we had a very nice crowd that definitely got up and moving. We played one 2 hour and fifteen minute set, which was lots of fun. Our buddy Mike Madden let us stay over, and it was good to hang with him again. Watched a little Zoolander.

We woke up early on Sunday so that we could make it back to Houston at a reasonable hour. I forced Andrew to navigate us out of our way across town so that we could get Josie's breakfast burritos, which were pretty damn good. Let me tell you, that drive from Lubbock to Houston is long, long, long. We listened to so many cd's it was silly. Sadly, it was either foggy or rainy the whole way. I will post the setlists from the weekend's shows tomorrow.

Doug
